IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN MEN’S AND WOMEN’S SKINCARE?
It might be quite confusing to understand the difference between men and women skincare. The skin looks the same isn’t it? Apparently yes but if you look closer you will find out that:
-Men have 25% thicker skin than women giving a firmer appearance. What does it means ? Women will see more pronounced signs of ageing sooner than us but wrinkles fine lines and sun damage will be more visible as we age.
-Higher oil production: We have larger pores and produce more sebum (oil) it can lead to a shiny face and cause skin problems like clogged pores, blackheads and acne. That sebum production doesn’t decrease with age like a woman’s does.
-Different skin’s texture: This is the biggest difference between man and woman. Our skin looks and feels tougher and rougher. Thickness is responsible for the deep facial wrinkles appearing over the years.
-Skin’s irritation: On average, a man will shave his face about 16,000 times in his life. While shaving, the razor removes the superficial layer of skin cells causing irritation.
-Skin Hydration: Until the age of 50, our moisturizer must not be too heavy since we have a lesser tendency for dryness than women. Having more lactic acid in our sweat, our pH is lower and the skin is more hydrated since sweating more frequently. After that age, the moisturizer must be more powerful and rich .
All those specification illustrates why we need products adapted to our skin ...and let's be honest, we don't really like to spend hours in front of the mirror. Our perfect skincare routine must be as simple as possible made of few products, very performant that we can quickly use every day .
